JAPANESE FOODS

In my country, Japanese foods is very popular and famous. Thai people know Japanese foods as a healthy and tasty food. You can see many Japanese restaurants around Bangkok city which is the capital of Thailand or the big city like Chiang Mai or Chonburi. In addition, in convenience stores (Seven Eleven) sell ready-to- eat Japanese food name “Onigiri”. It is my favorite one because it is convenience and yummy when I have no time to prepare meal.

The most favorite Japanese cuisine for me is “Tempura Udon”. It is a classic Japanese dish and easy to find in Japanese restaurants in Thailand. Udon is a thick wheat noodles in the hot soup while Tempura is a fried shrimp and vegetable for example pumpkin, taro and eggplant. When Udon is topped with tempura together with soy sauce in soup, it is a perfect match. Currently in Thailand, if you want to eat Udon but there is no the Japanese restaurant around your place, you can buy vacuum udon in the supermarket or convenience store and just put hot water in the bowl like instant noodle and wait 3-5 minutes. You will enjoy an easy and delicious meal. This ready-to-eat Udon shows how this menu is popular in Thailand. The other my favorite dish is “Takoyaki” which has a sphere sharp or little round balls. In the middle of Takoyaki are filled with octopus. I like a salty and a little bit sweet sauce of Takoyaki together with mayonnaise and milled seaweed. You can order Takoyaki in the restaurant as a snack or appetizer before having a main dish or you can order directly from Takoyaki shop which mostly located in department (Food zone). The meal will not be completed if it lacks of desserts. “Daifuku” is a famous Japanese sweets which made from mochi stuffed filled with red bean paste and sometimes add fresh strawberry in the middle. The sour taste from strawberry, sweet taste from red bean paste and sticky from mochi get along together. This kind of sweet should eat with hot green tea and you will find that it is such a great couple.

All of the menu that I explain are just examples of Japanese foods. There are many dishes which are also popular in Thailand. I can say that Japanese food is always the well-known cuisine in Thailand and Thai people really love Japanese food!
